History
We were motivated to create software_DNA by our continued awareness and concern about quality software being copied and shared over the Internet. For years the problem existed, but then with peer-to-peer file sharing, the problem just exploded.
The Internet was making the problem bigger, and we decided to use the Internet to handle the solution.
After some 9 months of research, thinking, preliminary designs, etc… we felt we had found the answer.
In September 2002, softWORKZ Innovation was created, and we filed our patent for the Dynamic Network Activation (DNA) process.
After some 12 months of design, coding and testing, we had implemented a robust software protection solution based on a client-server architecture where all license parameters and rights are managed by a secure Server, using the DNA process and a set of configurable “piracy protection” rules. And we had put in place the DNA Control Panel which allows software developers to TAKE CONTROL over their software.
software_DNA was launched in November 2003. We continue today to add optional features based on all the feedback we are getting from software developers around the world so that we can offer the ultimate solution. |
Management
We have varied backgrounds and experiences that we bring to softWORKZ, but most of all, we’re a team of long-time friends with a passion for this project.
Claude, the strategist: 20 years in the Telecom industry, many as senior executive in large multi-national companies. And the last 6 years, working with early-stage companies and venture capital teams in software and nano-technology. An electronics engineer with a track record for delivering.
The Ligeti brothers, the instigators: Paul and Fred opened the first Apple Computer store in Montreal back in 1982. Already then, they had designed copy protection solutions which they used in their custom software business. After several years of success in real-estate development, a continuation of the family business, they are back focusing on a worldwide concern; software piracy.
Gilles, the techie: 20 years as a software consultant, designing custom software solutions for his customers, integrating complex business software solutions. Gilles is the brains behind our robust client-server architecture and the underlying security features of software_DNA. He knows what hackers can do, and he knows how to give them a hard time.
