Location of DNA Library on the User’s Device
By default, the DNA Library is expected to be located in the following location:
| Windows, LINUX |
In the same folder / directory as the application itself |
| MAC OSX |
In the Package Content -> MacOS folder of the Application
See Adding DNA to XCode
for steps to add a Build Phase - Copy Files
action.
|
| Android |
In the JNILibs folders of the Application.
All four DNA Libraries (ARM / Intel, 32-bit/64-bit) should be included in your App
See Adding DNA to Android Studio
for details.

For the Windows Library, DO NOT INSTALL THE DNA.DLL IN THE WIN/SYS directory
The DNA.DLL can be installed in another directory, but it should never be installed in the WIN/SYS directory
as per Microsoft guidelines for DLL’s. With Windows XP SP1, the DLL search order used by XP has been reversed and
now first looks in the WIN/SYS directory, and then the application directory. Placing the DNA.DLL in the WIN/SYS
directory could impact other software on the user’s computer using a different version of the DNA.DLL.
See
Development Impacts of Security Changes in Windows Server 2003 for additional details.
Loading the DNA Library and multi-thread Apps
Depending on the IDE / Coding language used, the DNA Library may be loaded directly on start-up or may need to be
loaded dynamically by the App (see the Read Me file included with the given DNA Library).
In either case, it is important that the DNA Library and any API Calls be done on the same thread in a multi-thread Application.
Calling the DNA API's from different threads may corrupt the CDM License file or lead to incorrect behaviour.
