Requires Version 6+ of the DNA Library
The DNA_SetProperties API Call is introduced in Version 6 of the DNA Library:
- replaces the
DNA_SetCDMPathName and DNA_SetINIPathName API Calls
(both API calls continue to be supported for backward compatibility)
- introduces the ability to set the
deviceID, Computer Name and userID
to be used by the
DNA Library
| Property Name |
Property Value |
| CDMPathName |
Path and Filename of the location where the CDM License file will be stored on the User’s device (UTF-8)
Example (Windows):
C:\Users\Public\Clock_Demo\clock.CDM
|
| INIPathName |
Path and Filename of the location where the INI file (for proxy info) will be stored on the User’s device (UTF-8)
Example (Windows):
C:\Users\Public\Clock_Demo\clock.INI
|
| deviceID |
Sets the <deviceID> (max 32 alpha chars, no spaces) to replace the default
<deviceID> used by the DNA Library
to determine the hash used as the <machineID>
This is mandatory for Android devices ONLY (see below).
For other devices, this Property should only be used in special situations after consultation with softWORKZ
Technical Support.
Also see Setting the machineID
|
| userID |
Adds the <userID> (max 50 alpha chars and - _ . )
to the <deviceID> to determine the Hash used as the
<machineID>
This Property should only be used in special situations after consultation with softWORKZ
Technical Support.
Also see Setting the machineID
|
| ComputerName |
Sets the <ComputerName> to replace the default <ComputerName>
as displayed in the
DNA Control Panel (max 50 alpha chars and - _ . )
This is mandatory for Android devices ONLY (see below).
For other devices, this Property should only be used in special situations after consultation with softWORKZ
Technical Support.

Notes:
Do not use a Filename with the ".LIC" extension as this
is reserved for the Offline Activation Process.
This API Call will return ERR_NO_ERROR or 1 for an unknown property.
The validity of the Path Name is not verified by this API Call.
An invalid CDM Path Name will trigger an error during the API Calls that write or update the CDM License file, such as
DNA_Validate(), DNA_Activate(), DNA_Reactivate().

CDMPathName and INIPathName
The location of the CDM License File is a critical element of your software_DNA implementation
The DNA_SetProperties("CDMPathName",<pathName>) API call must be the first API call used to ensure all
subsequent API calls are using the correct CDM License file location.
See Location of CDM License File
for recommended settings on different OS’s and
default locations.
deviceID and ComputerName
The deviceID and ComputerName should be set by the App only in the following situations:
- Android OS, where the recommended settings are:
- the
Android_ID for the deviceID
- the
modelName for the ComputerName
- special situations such as Docker Containers - after consultation with Technical Support
By setting the devicedID the App is responsible to ensure that it is unique to the device to ensure
succesfull licensing protection.
The deviceID provided should be a maximum of 32 alpha characters, no spaces.
The DNA Library will perform a MD5 hash, and use the result as the <machineID>.
